Feature Documentary

Our founder Alexander Asen, is one of the Executive Producers alongside Oscar nominee Fernando Meirelles (City of God, The Constant Gardener), on a brand new feature film documentary launching on CNN in April 2024, called Blue Carbon. The film is produced by multi-award-winning production companies MAKE Waves and science-focused HHMI Tangled Bank Studios.

Told through the eyes of Grammy-nominated DJ and marine toxicologist, Jayda Guy, accompanied by a score from the Wu-Tang Clan's RZA and featuring Seu Jorge, Blue Carbon is an environmental documentary that brings together music and science to uncover what could be our greatest weapon in the fight against climate change. Filmed in the USA, Senegal, Vietnam, France, Colombia and Brazil, the documentary explores the latest science around the relatively newly-discovered potential of oceans to absorb much more carbon from the atmosphere than even tropical rainforests.

This "Blue Carbon" as scientists are now calling it, can be found in salt-marshes, sea-grasses and mangroves, but once again it is a race against time to protect and restore these vital ecosystems and to harness their untold power as the existential threat of climate change looms large. Punctuated with stunning encounters with the natural world - such as the Florida manatee, humpback whales and the American crocodile - and uncovering the unlikely, local leaders at the heart of coastal conservation, Blue Carbon provides a much-needed ray of hope in troubling times.

Directed by Emmy-winner Nicolas Brown, Blue Carbon will premiere on CNN in early 2024, and subsequently on television networks/streaming platforms worldwide.

Pollen is also currently charged with running the film’s impact campaign to grow mass awareness about the importance of Blue Carbon and the preservation of these fragile ecosystems.

“The air we breathe and the water we drink are the two most important things for our survival. Yet we consistently continue to abuse them with frivolous products. I’m joining the Blue Carbon team of creators to help bring the needed awareness to these issues. Hopefully the film will inspire us to do better’’

Currently in Production. Release in 2023
